Laura Spini and Laurence Brook haven’t always been a writer/director duo. They were initially writer/director loners before they met at the London Film School ten years ago. Drawn together by a love of strange, gentle and dark comedy, they became one singular writing/directing entity, instantiated by two separate neurodivergent beings whose names start with Laur.

Together Laura and Laurence have put out a slate of shorts from psychic documentary to musical comedy, worked with amazing actors like Sophie Thompson and Fred Melamed, screened at festivals from Palm Springs to Xining and picked up a Vimeo Staff Pick along the way. With a background in film editing and philosophy, they have a strong interest in investigating character, with a predilection for the weird, the absurd, and fringe groups with uncanny beliefs.
